70 hours per 2 week pay period, includes some nights and weekends

Annual Salary:

$57,225

 

The Perfect Candidate…will be a whole lot less like Cosmo G. Spacely and a whole lot more like              Captain Malcolm Reynolds and Minerva McGonagall

 

Duties:

  • Supervise all Adult Services staff, preparing desk schedules and ensuring coverage.  Prepare staff evaluations.
  • In collaboration with the Head of Technical Services and Acquisitions, parse collection development responsibilities to staff members, including self, according to needs, interests, and abilities.  Ensure library processes maximize efficiency to patrons.
  • Oversee and provide reference and reader’s advisory services.
  • Plan, promote, and manage contract employees and staff to enhance technical and information literacy through use of individual and group classes
  • Provide practical support of technology (Desktops, mobile devices, printers, scanners) for patrons and staff as needed.
  • Supervise and assist the planning and promotion of community and special events within the library meeting rooms.
  • Regularly update the Library's website and monthly calendars / newsletter with both original and contributed content. Spearhead Library Social Media efforts (Twitter, Facebook, etc.).
  • Participate in library meetings, goal setting, and appropriate training opportunities. Seek opportunities for development within the Library, BCCLS and NJLA
  • Work on special projects as assigned by the Director
  • MLS/MLIS from an accredited institution;  NJ Professional Librarian Certificate;  minimum 3-5 years of experience in public library work with increasing responsibility
  • Able to implement library services in an automated environment
  • Knowledge of print and non-print reference and readers advisory resources as well as changes in technology and trends within the library profession
  • Able to establish a rapport with a diverse community of patrons
  • Effectively use technology tools including email and MS Office applications
  • Able to communicate effectively in written and oral form, meet deadlines, and work with patrons, staff, and others in a tactful and consistent manner.

Requirements:

  • MLS/MLIS from an accredited institution;  NJ Professional Librarian Certificate;  minimum 3-5 years of experience in public library work with increasing responsibility
  • Able to implement library services in an automated environment
  • Knowledge of print and non-print reference and readers advisory resources as well as changes in technology and trends within the library profession

Part Time - 36 hours per two week pay period.

Minimum one Saturday per month and one night per week

Hourly Rate:

$17.25 / hour

Duties:

  • Providing reference and reader’s advisory services to adults
  • Providing backup reference and readers advisory service to children and young adults
  • Training staff and/or public to use electronic resources
  • Assisting the public with internet, email, and Office applications
  • Working on special projects as assigned by the Department Head and/or Director

Requirements:

  • New Jersey Librarian’s Certificate required; MLS (ALA accredited program desirable); will consider a student who has successfully completed a minimum of 24 credits in a 36 credit program or equivalent and will obtain a New Jersey Librarian’s Certificate within one year.
  • Able to implement library services in an automated environment
  • Knowledge of print and non-print reference and readers advisory resources as well as changes in technology and trends within the library profession
  • Able to establish a rapport with a diverse community of adults
  • Effectively use technology tools include email and MS Office applications
  • Able to communicate effectively in written and oral form, meet deadlines, and work with patrons, staff, and others in a tactful and consistent manner.
